Welding & Surface Preparation

Correct use of equipment and competence among users are key factors to safe welding. Safety must always be of the highest priority - for the protection of crew, ship and cargo.

With the Unitor™ range, every welding application on board has an effective solution. Safe welding, we believe, is effective welding, and effective welding leads to greater cost control - keeping downtime for repairs to an absolute minimum, and reducing the risks to crew, cargo and vessel.

All Unitor™ equipment is designed in full compliance with current safety regulations at sea and we make technical information accessible to end users, helping to ensure that equipment is always used properly and safely.

Designed specifically for the maritime industry

These are the only welding machines in the market designed specifically for the maritime industry. Some of its groundbreaking features include a Total Protection (TP) function that automatically shuts down the machine to prevent damage caused by voltage peaks or electricity supply failures. Furthermore, the machine's Voltage Reduction Device (VRD) function limits open circuit voltage to a range of 9-13V, preventing accidents due to electric shock. Both these new enhancements promote safe welding on the vessel.

Fully compliant with approvals from major classification societies

Manufactured in full compliance with current regulations for maritime use, we constantly look ahead towards changes in regulations to make sure that our equipment remains compliant always. The Unitor™ range of consumables is comprehensive and production is done in accordance to the four big class societies (DNV GL, ABS, LR, BV).

Global availability in 2,200 ports

It is impossible to predict when or where the need for maintenance or repair will arise. But one thing is certain: when it does, you need the right equipment at hand in order to get the job done effectively, with minimum downtime. Our standardised welding products can be delivered through one of the 2,200 ports we service through our global network.

Structured training programs for the crew

On-board welding takes place under varied, daunting and even unpredictable conditions, and the range of base materials that require cutting or welding is typically very wide. We help you to prepare for this range of challenges through our dedicated training programs in cooperation with our partners around the world, bringing the best quality training to your crew.

Documentation - a prerequisite for safe welding.

At every opportunity, we offer support to ascertain that Unitor™ products are used properly and safely. While the equipment is standardised and easy to use, it is also backed up by detailed documentation - user manuals, welding handbooks, consumable selectors, product data sheets, safety data sheets, problem solver wall charts and specialist literature.
