Special projects
We are proud supporters of academic research in the form of a professorship in Maritime research with the Norwegian Business School (BI), as well as a PhD fellow in suicide research at The National Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention (NSSF) with the University of Oslo (UiO). Furthermore we have a cooperation agreement with the Norwegian foundation Aktiv mot kreft and their initiative Pusterommet. We also contribute to and support the non-profit organisations Make-A-Wish Norway and Right to play. In addition, the foundation support different Emergency medical student associations throughout Norway. The medical advisory board consists of Christen Peder Dahl and Torgeir Wyller.
We also assist with gift reinforcements to Nasjonalballetten UNG, Senter for unge talenter, Barratt Due and Filmskapere, through a cooperation with the organisation Talent Norge. In 2023, the Tom Wilhelmsen Foundation also committed to supporting the Norwegian Opera & Ballet, as well as the music institution Barratt Due over several years, with new talent development projects.

In 2021, Tom Wilhelmsen's Foundation became a Gold Sponsor of Make-A-Wish Norway.

The Wilhelmsen group has a cooperation agreement with the international humanitarian organisation Right To Play, which uses sport and play as an arena for development and peace.

Wilhelmsen Professorship in maritime research
We are proud sponsors of a professorship in maritime research, as well as a PhD position, together with the Norwegian Business School (BI). The agreement, with the intention to further develop the BI Centre for Ocean Business, was established in 2006 and will secure funding from 2023-2027.

Barratt Due Musikkinstitutt
Tom Wilhelmsen’s Foundation has committed to supporting best-in-class musical institution Barratt Due Musikkinstitutt over a period of three years, with 15 mill Norwegian kroners, with the intention to further develop the institution.
